Identification  
The Bosbok as a timid medium-sized antelope with white spots on the buttocks, against the legs, at the base of the neck and against the throat. Only the male has horns and it larger and darker than the female.
Habitat  
  It prefers riverine forests or other types of dense thickets near perennial water. It may move in summer to other thickets near temporary water sources, returning when it becomes dry. The Bushbuck is dependent on water and sufficient shelter.
Habits  
  It is usually solitary, now and then seen in pairs, small groups of females, females with their young or small bachelor herds. It stays in riverine forests during the winter it has a smaller home range than in the wet season. It usually grazes at night or early mornings and late afternoons and rests during the day in thickets. It has keen senses. The male is very brave and will even attack when wounded.
Food  
  It eats mainly leaves but also grass, branches, flowers and fruit.
Vocalisation  
  Grumbles and a loud hoarse bark as an alarm call.
Breeding  
  A single young is born anytime during the year after a gestation period of ± 6 months. The female has 2 pairs of groin mammae.
