Rules for game hunting

  1. All persons joining a Hunting Safari (hunters & non-hunters) must be in possession of international insurance for the safari period
  2. The Hunting Safari will not commence before all the participants have signed the Rules and the Indemnity Form.
  3. No private vehicles are allowed in the hunting areas.
  4. Hunters are taken to the hunting area from where hunting is done on foot.
  5. Hunting from vehicles is allowed under special circumstances.
  6. All firearms must be unloaded whilst on vehicles.
  7. While in the camp, firearms may only be used on the shooting range. Firearms must be without any rounds in the camp area.
  8. While in the hunting area, you must be accompanied by your professional hunter at all times.
  9. While in the hunting area, you must be in possession of your written permission (and hunting licence on farms without exemption).
  10. If a non-hunter is found in the veldt with a rifle, the hunter's tariff for the full duration of the safari is payable.
  11. You may only hunt from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset on the same day. This rule is not applicable when hunting nocturnal species.
  12. No hunting will be allowed on Sundays.
  13. No liquor is allowed in the hunting area. Any person under the influence of alcohol or any other substance is not allowed in the hunting area.
  14. You must satisfy yourself regarding the species, size and sex of the game you wish to hunt. Your professional hunter will facilitate your decision but the final decision to shoot or not to shoot the animal is yours.
  15. All animals wounded and not found will be charged for in full. A drop of blood and/or stomach fluid and/or an animal falling to the ground and/or displaying any behaviour of a wounded animal after the shot is fired is evidence that an animal has been wounded. The guide or professional hunter's assessment of the situation is final.
  16. On certain farms the following rules are also enforced. Your professional hunter will inform you accordingly:
    a) No hunting near waterholes or drinking places.
    b) No hunting in boundary roads or near boundary fences. Hunters will be  held responsible for game breaking through to neighbouring farms.
    c) Certain areas around the camp are non-hunting areas. You will be briefed accordingly.

Rules for wing-shooting

INJABULA wants all the participants to enjoy the day. It is, however, important to maintain our safety record. The safety of our clients comes first and it is not negotiable. We also believe in ethical hunting and the obedience of all the laws and regulations. In this regard it is necessary to lay down minimum rules.

Rules

Only lawfully owned shotguns may be used for the shoot. (South African hunters must provide for their own shotgun and ammunition).
  1. Only 12 gauge or smaller size shotguns may be used.
  2. Guns must be safe and empty before boarding a vehicle.
  3. Guns must be empty and safe before entering the premises at the house.
  4. Guns kept at the house must be placed in such a way that its safety can be confirmed visibly without touching it.
  5. Nature Conservation laws and ordinances must be obeyed at all times.
  6. Never fire in the direction of another person.
  7. Never position yourself or hide in a field, crops, dam wall or river where other shooters are utilising the same area. They might not see you and shoot in your direction.
  8. Only fire from your allocated position or ranges. Do not wander around without permission from a INJABULA official. Other shooters in your vicinity must be notified of your new position.
  9. You may only shoot at birds in flight. Ensure that you see the horizon below your target before you shoot.
  10. No alcohol may be used directly before or during the shoot.
  11. All bird’s shot, as well as the used shells, must be picked up and brought to the camp.
  12. All vehicles must be parked in the allocated areas. Do not drive around looking for birds to shoot.
  13. Never drive your vehicle in the crops or on cultivated land. Keep on the tracks at all times.
  14. Sign the indemnity form before the shoot. INJABULA accepts no responsibility for any injuries or loss of property.

The Ethical Hunter

    1. Abides by wildlife laws and the laws of nature.(You will be briefed on local laws)
    2. Acts safely and ethically
    3. Cares about the thoughts of others
    4. Gets into the field without bothering others
    5. Keeps his/her equipment in good working order
    6. Leaves clean camps and even cleaner impressions
    7. Makes sure of the target and checks carefully for wounded game
    8. Respects natural resources and people
